About me

Hello, my name is Sonja. I love hiking, traveling and basically everything that includes being outdoors and exploring our wonderful planet earth.

In the past years I have done quite a bit of long-distance hiking in the US as well as in Europe featuring fancy trails like the Pacific Northwest Trail (my 2019 adventure!), Europe’s long-distance path E1 or the well-known Tour du Mont Blanc.

In 2016 I quit a well-paid office job to make one of my dreams come true and hike the Pacific Crest Trail, one of America’s most famous long distance hiking trails. I started writing a blog – Lifetimetrails – and it was meant to be some kind of diary for family and friends to follow. At some stage I decided to add some essential hiking information and also to write more about my travel experiences all over the world. In 2014 for example I stayed in a local village in Fiji and experienced the Fijian culture first hand! I was lucky enough to see a little bit in the past years. Here are some milestones:

Hiking the Pacific Crest Trail and experiencing a different lifestyle changed me. Since then I try to be more aware of my surroundings every day and of things we take for granted in normal life. Clean water doesn’t just come out of the tap – in most places on this planet it doesn’t! I try to be aware and treat nature and my fellow human beings with the respect they deserve.

I have seen the best of people while travelling and out on hiking trails. Life is thankfully not what the news want to make us believe. Go out into the world and find out yourself!

You’re stuck in the office? No problem! I’ll take you on the trail with me!

Come on! Let’s explore America’s youngest National Scenic Trail!
