Lately I had to read on facebook that one of the most famous trail angels on the Pacific Crest Trail – Donna Saufley – is suffering from brain cancer.
Donna is not only a trail angel on the PCT to me. Although we didn’t stay in touch on a regular basis she and her husband Jeff have always been more than just friends. During my hiker career I had the honor of staying a couple of times at there place – which is known as Hiker Heaven amongst all of us. Last time I saw Donna and Jeff was in 2019 when we met in Washington to go out for dinner together.
I will never foget the first time I was entering their property in 2016 when I had my knee injury and couldn’t hike. I will never forget Donna’s words that I could stay as long as I needed to heal.
Now it’s up to all of us to help our wonderful angel in these hard times.
