Lately I had to read on facebook that one of the most famous trail angels on the Pacific Crest Trail – Donna Saufley – is suffering from brain cancer.
Donna is not only a trail angel on the PCT to me. Although we didn’t stay in touch on a regular basis she and her husband Jeff have always been more than just friends. During my hiker career I had the honor of staying a couple of times at there place – which is known as Hiker Heaven amongst all of us. Last time I saw Donna and Jeff was in 2019 when we met in Washington to go out for dinner together.
I will never foget the first time I was entering their property in 2016 when I had my knee injury and couldn’t hike. I will never forget Donna’s words that I could stay as long as I needed to heal.
Now it’s up to all of us to help our wonderful angel in these hard times.
What can I do? – Please donate
To make a long story short, you can read about Donna’s health and how she is doing on the following fundraising page as well as on the caring bridge site which is linked there. After having had a post surgical stroke she is now up on her feet again and learning to walk.
No matter if you know them or not, please help Donna and Jeff to fight this battle against cancer and help with a small (or big) donation. Your help will be much appreciated!
