AT Day 2: Attacked by a tick

,

6th July

12.4 miles

Bushcamp (1385.8) to Bushcamp (1398.2)

After breakfast and packing up our tent we started with climbing and squeezing our bodies through some narrow rocky sections. Shepherd always took the difficult way and climbed over the rocks while I sometimes took the easy way around. My Body wasn’t used to carrying a backpack (although it was not that heavy this time) and after only a couple of days I didn’t have what’s called “trail legs”. It was great fun to watch Shepherd climbing and I took some photos and Videos. Unfortunately with his camera so I have not much about it on my camera.

Around lunchtime we took a small detour to Lake Tiorati to visit the vendor machines and get a couple of cokes. We also met another hiker again we had met before. I don’t remember his trailname, shame on me! He was counting trees for a nature Project and it was quite interesting to listen to his explanations. Even if I could not fully understand.

After a while on the trail I started to feel sick. It wasn’t a nice Feeling. but Shepherd took care of me at all times and made sure I get enough breaks. I was glad to had such an experienced hiking Partner at my side.

Later that day I found a tick under my right arm while we took a break. Ticks here are very dangerous because of the lyme desease. Shepherd removed it with my tweezers and we covered ourselves in some deet. Better to be safe.

When we arrived at our campsite near bear mountain, Shepherd made sure that our tent is set up properly. A rainstorm was predicted for the night.
